Company Profile

Projection Technology Made in Germany

Derksen Lichttechnik was founded in 1986 by Joachim M. Derksen in Gelsenkirchen. In the early days, the company specialised in the design and construction of lighting and sound systems for discos and dance schools.  In the 1990s, the first Graphic Spotlight , a projector for the permanent projection of logos and texts, is developed. This is the basis for the company’s rise. The projection motifs, known as Gobos are engraved into durable glass using a high-power laser. Currently, four production lines are in use for the production of individual projection motifs.

Frank Derksen

In 2002 Joachim M. Derksen transfers the management of the company to his son Frank Derksen and slowly withdraws from his responsible role. In lighting technology, no other invention triggers such radical change as the LED – which is why LED lamps have been replacing conventional technology since 2007. Derksen’s first compact LED projector PHOS 20 will be awarded the coveted red dot award for its outstanding design by a renowned jury in 2011. A recognition for the achievements of the development team! Since then, the projectors of the PHOS series have been continuously developed and successfully used worldwide, e.g. for safety projections and occupational safety in industrial environments. The move to the location on Johannes-Rau-Allee takes place in 2019. The new multi-purpose hall offers space for administration, logistics and production and is located in one of Gelsenkirchen’s most forward-looking quarters, close to the ‘Graf Bismarck’ leisure area and harbour.
